Miriam Makeba was the first African musician to become a true international star. This documentary, directed by Mika Kaurismäki, traces Makeba’s life and music through. B'more soul singer Ama Chandra performs some of Makeba’s beloved songs as part of this special afternoon.

Dikki Du & The Zydeco Krewe

Accordion player Dikki Du (Troy Carrier) is part of a mighty zydeco lineage that includes his father Roy and brother Chubby. He cut his teeth with the family band, often at his father’s Offshore Lounge, in Lawtell Louisiana. Dikki now fronts the Zydeco Crewe that has a seriously funky, danceable sound. He takes classic zydeco tunes and turns them inside out, stretching each one out and driving dancers wild. Tix & Info

The Campbell Brothers: A Sacred Love Supreme

Join us for our continuing series of sacred music inside B’nai Israel’s majestic sanctuary. For this performance, we explore the sacred steel guitar tradition and the spiritual jazz of John Coltrane. The Campbell Brothers’ sacred steel gospel version of John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme was commissioned by Lincoln Center Out of Doors and Duke Performances at Duke University. Tix & Info
