UPCOMING EVENTS @ THE PEABODY INSTITUTE

The Peabody Modern Orchestra will perform on Wednesday, October 18, at 7:30 pm, led by Harlan D. Parker. Victoria Bond's Bridges, Steve Reich's Radio Rewrite, and Philip Glass' Symphony No. 1, "Low," will be presented. This Free Fall Baltimore concert, in Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall, will be free. Reserve advance tickets online or by calling the box office at 667-208-6620. This event will also be live streamed at ustream.tv.

Monday, October 16, 6:00 pm

Faculty artist Leon Fleisher, Peabody's Andrew W. Mellon Chair in Piano, will present a master class in Cohen-Davison Family Theatre. The class is free and open to the public.


Tuesday, October 17, 7:00 pm

Faculty artist Manuel Barrueco, guitar, will present a master class in Centre Street Performance Studio. Connor Milstead, guitar, will perform Mauro Giuliani's Gran Sonata Eroica, Op. 150. Katie Cho, guitar, will perform the first movement from Leo Brouwer's Sonata. Rubén Portillo, guitar, will perform Johann Kaspar Mertz's Tarantella. Meng Su, guitar, will perform Astor Piazzolla's Cinco Piezas. The class is free and open to the public.


Wednesday, October 18, 3:30 pm

Distinguished Visiting Artist Midori, violin, will present an open lesson in the Centre Street Performance Studio. Rebecca Kasdan, violin, and Allison Freeman, piano, will perform one movement from Korngold's Concerto in D major, Op. 35. Ruoying Pan, violin, and Yunling Zhang, piano, will perform one movement from Beethoven's Sonata No. 3, Op. 12. Ledah Finck, violin, will perform two movements from Bach's Sonata in C major No. 3, BWV 1005. Zi-Li Sha, violin, will perform Ysaÿe's Sonata in E major No. 6, Op. 27.


Thursday, October 19, 3:30 pm 

Clarinetist Alicia Lee, a Hittman Visiting Artist, will present a free wind chamber music master class in Cohen-Davison Family Theatre. Lee is a founding member of the chamber collective Decoda and regularly tours with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Knights, NOVUS, and ACME.


Thursday, October 19, 7:00 pm

Faculty artist Manuel Barrueco, guitar, will present a master class in Centre Street Performance Studio. Menyi Li, guitar, will perform the first two movements from Johann Sebastian Bach's Sonata BWV 1001 in G minor. Shon Stelman, guitar, will perform Johann Kaspar Mertz's Elegy. James Keretses, guitar, will perform three movements from Jacques Hétu's Suite for Guitar, Op. 41. Junhong Kuang, guitar, will perform Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's Capriccio Diabolico. The class is free and open to the public.
