On Tuesday, September 26, at 7:00 pm, students of the Graduate Conducting Program will lead a performance by the Peabody Conductors Orchestra. Yeji Jung will lead the orchestra in Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 3, Op. 72b. Jisoo Kim will conduct Strauss' Don Juan, Op. 20. Three conducting students will lead the orchestra for Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64. Paola Ávila will conduct the first movement; Gonzalo Farias will conduct the next two; and Jamie Reeves will conduct the finale. This concert, in Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall, will be free. The Historical Performance Department will present a free performance class in Hilda and Douglas Goodwin Recital Hall. The class includes a yoga warm up by Jamie Gallupe, a session on "Speaking to your audience" by faculty artist Gwyn Roberts, and a performance of Bach's Sonata in B minor, BWV 1030 by Sarah Lynn, traverso, and Paula Maust, harpsichord; and Franz Xaver Richter's Sonata in D major by Lynn, Maust, and Gallupe, Baroque cello.

Bonnie Gordon from University of Virginia will speak on "What if Orpheus was an Automaton?" in Peabody's Doctor of Musical Arts Musicology Colloquium. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Room 308C (Conservatory Building) and is followed by a light reception.

Director of the Graduate Conducting Program Marin Alsop will lead the Peabody Symphony Orchestra in a performance of John Adams' Short Ride in a Fast Machine and Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 1 in D major, "Titan." Clifton Guidry, bassoon, and Min Joo Yi, piano, will perform Andrzej Panufnik's Concerto for Bassoon. Tae Ho Hwang, saxophone, will perform Luciano Berio's Sequenza VIIb for soprano saxophone. Christian Paquette, flute, will perform Michael Colgrass' Wild Riot of the Shaman's Dreams. Gyuri Kim, flute, and Hui-Chuan Chen, piano, will perform Jindřich Feld's Sonata for Flute and Piano.
