Art @ Work 2017 Creates Eight New Murals in Waverly and Reservoir Hill

Art @ Work, the summer mural program for young people enrolled in Baltimore City’s YouthWorks ended its third season Friday, July 28, 2017 by holding two community celebrations in Waverly and Reservoir Hill. This year, eight teams comprised of a lead artist, an artist intern, and ten youth apprentices created murals at four sites in Reservoir Hill and four sites in Waverly. The lead artists were Julie Horton, Megan Lewis, Gary Mullen, Latoya Peoples, Iandry Randriamandroso, S. Rasheem, Ernest Shaw and Mike Thomas. The new murals can be seen at the following locations:

  • Waverly: Rite Aid (3198 Old York Road), Waverly Ace Hardware (3103 Tinges Lane), The Book Thing (3001 Vineyard Lane) and Waverly Crabs (3400 Greenmount Avenue)
  • Reservoir Hill: Harrison Sykes Brown Playground (2700 Madison Avenue),  Tuneup City (701 Whitelock Street), The Fray (2524 Brookfield Avenue) and German Park (2411 Linden Avenue)

Art @ Work is produced by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, Jubilee Arts and 901 Arts and made possible through a partnership with YouthWorks.

OPEN STUDIO TOUR 2017 APPLICATIONS DUE WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 30, 2017!

Are you an artist in Baltimore City and want to show off your studio and work? Register for School 33 Art Center’s 29th Annual Open Studio Tour presented by Bank of America taking place Saturday, October 7 and Sunday, October 8, from 10am-6pm. An annual city-wide event, produced by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts and presented by Bank of America, Open Studio Tour brings together professional artists and the general public, giving collectors and art lovers the opportunity to visit the studios of visual artists. Visitors get a chance to meet the artist, see their work and a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their working processes. Interested artists/galleries must register by Wednesday, August 30, 2017. BALTIMORE BOOK FESTIVAL

The Baltimore Book Festival returns to Baltimore's Inner Harbor Friday, September 22 through Sunday, September 24, 2017.
