FINISHING 2016 WITH THE PEABODY INSTITUTE

The Peabody Preparatory's free Vella Silver Recital featuring Preparatory students selected through the adjudicated Signature Recital Series will be presented on Wednesday, December 14, at 6:30 pm, in Leith Symington Griswold Hall.

Pianists Teodora Adzharova, Noah Dion, Anna Han, Hope Han, Helia Hung, Kelly Ji, Noah Lee, Hsiao-Ying Lin, Alan Mao, Quinn Stoddard-O'Neill, Seulki Yoo, Derui Zhang, and Zachary Zhao; violinists Connor Chaikowsky, Fiona Cunninghame-Murray, Jing Fan, Florian Grader-Beck, Zoe Hsieh, Claire Hu, Bryan Huang, Lillian Naill, and Rey Sasaki; and cellists Henry Bushnell, Samuel Lam, Aaron Lieberman, Caleb Park, and Joseph Ali Unalp-Arida will perform works by Bach, Chopin, Debussy, Haydn, Mozart, Rachmaninoff, and more.

EVENTS THIS WEEK

Monday, December 12, 2:30 pm

Student chamber music ensembles will play works from the vast chamber music literature, from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern eras in a free recital in Cohen-Davison Family Theatre.  


Wednesday, December 14, 6:30 pm

A free recital by pianist Marian Hahn's sonata class will take place in Hilda and Douglas Goodwin Recital Hall.


Saturday, December 17, 7:30 pm

The Peabody Preparatory will present a free Wind Ensembles Concert with the Preparatory Wind Orchestra, directed by Elijah Wirth, and the Preparatory Wind Band, directed by Karen Seward, in Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall. The Preparatory Wind Band will perform Perfect Trip by Patrick J. Burns, Chesapeake (A Suite for Concert Band) by Jerry Brubaker, The Heart of Madness by Mark Lortz, and selections from Hairspray by Marc Shaiman. The Preparatory Wind Orchestra will perform Overture to Candide by Leonard Bernstein; Concertino No. 4 for Trombone by Ferdinand David featuring Cooper Cromwell-Whitley, trombone; Sleep by Eric Whitacre; Suite No. 2 in F major, Op. 28b for military band by Gustav Holst; and In the Mood by Joe Garland.
