Theatre Playground 1
Ages 4 to 6
Does your child love stories and playing make-believe? In this class your child will learn a variety of dramatic skills focusing especially on what qualities go into understanding/creating a character (physicality, expression, vocalization, etc.) as well as understanding and building a story. The group will explore different stories and find unique ways of looking at them through a variety of theatre games and exercises. The last class will conclude with a demonstration of our many activities and new skills!

Theatre Playground 2
Ages 6 to 8
This class builds on the skills learned in Theatre Playground 1. Pantomime, improvisation, progressive story-telling, articulation, dramatic role play, tableau and audition techniques are added to the basic creative drama skills for a fun, explorative semester. Parents will be invited to participate in the final class with their child.

Creative Play Production
Ages 9-13
Students will study what a play is; what makes a play; what the parts of a play are; the purpose of characters and dialogue, of setting and costumes. The students will create their own production designs and write their own short play which will be performed at the final class by professional actors from Pumpkin Theatre's Company.
WHEN: Saturdays, October 10 - December 12, 10am-11:30am

Scene Study
Ages 11-15
Broaden your actor tool kit with creative character and scene development, bold physical and vocal acting choices and monologue study. The class will culminate in a presentation of scenes and monologues for family and friends.

Go, Dog. Go!

WHEN: October 17, 18, 24 & 25

This classic children's book comes to life on stage! Watch this group of highly motivated dogs as they drive their cars to various locations in their pursuit of work and play! They snorkle. They howl at the moon. They ride a ferris wheel. They sing and dance and climb trees! This rollicking free-for-all of a musical is sure to entertain kids of all ages.

The Rainbow Crow

WHEN: November 28, 29, December 5 & 6

Adapted from a Lenape Native American legend, this musical tells the story of a traveling troupe of songbirds who arrive to entertain a colorful, animal community. Though their lead singer, Rainbow Crow, is passionate about her talents, the other animals become distracted by the world's first appearance of snow. It's all fun and games until the snow begins to engulf everything! Follow Rainbow Crow on her journey to meet a powerful and quirky spirit known as the Creative Thinker and discover a solution to save her friends.

3rd Annual Kids for Kids Production

Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr.

WHEN: January 30, 31, February 6 & 7

Pumpkin's Kids for Kids slot is the only production each year where children perform for our mainstage audiences! Based on the Emmy Award-winning Saturday morning educational cartoon series and pop culture phenomenon, Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr follows a young school teacher who is nervous about his first day of teaching. As he tries to relax, watching TV,   characters representing different facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music.

Winnie the Pooh

Winnie-the-Pooh, the famous bear of Very Little Brain, is singing happily that "Isn't it funny how a bear likes honey," when the "terrible" trouble begins. Kanga comes to the forest with soap for baths and spoonsful of Strengthening Medicine! Something must be done!

Girl with Diamonds in Her Eyes: A Cowgirl Musical

WHEN: April 30, May 1, 7 & 8

Caroline "Buttons" McGee has a chip on her shoulder and eyes on a fortune in the silver mines of Nevada. Armed only with a sling shot, she runs away from her orphanage in Baltimore and sets out for the Wild West. Along her journey, Buttons finds an unlikely ally in Tom "Smudge-Nose" Parker, a gruff old prospector and his horse, Sally. Standing in the way of their treasure is Santiago, a rascally coyote who has his own interests in the secrets buried within the mines. Set in the 1870s, Girl With Diamonds In Her Eyes is a heart-warming story filled with humor and music that reminds us that love, friendship, and family are worth more than all the riches in the world.

Let's Make a Play!—Creative Play Production
3 session workshop -Each Session 2 hours in length

Creative play production will explore all elements of designing and producing an original play. In session one students will create an original one act play by writing a script that includes characters and stage directions. Session two will focus on design of costumes, props, set, and light. Session three will include a design presentation for family and friends. Actors will read the original script and students will describe all the design elements of their production.

COST: $100 per child* (10 child minimum)

Will You Tell Me a Story?—An Introduction to Storytelling
1 session workshop - 2 hours in length

In this workshop kids will explore the elements of a story through movement and audience participation. Participants will identify movements and sounds to add to their favorite stories.

COST:: $35 per child* (10 child minimum)

Shadow Puppets—Building and Playing with Shadow Puppets
1 session workshop - 2 hours in length

Spanning the ages in a multitude of cultures shadow puppets have entertained audiences for centuries. In this workshop the kids will experience a shadow puppet play and then create their own puppets and perform a puppet play of their own. A wonderful workshop for all ages!

COST:: $35 per child* (10 child minimum)

Fun with Improvisation and Comedy
1 session workshop - 2 hours in length

Students will learn how to take the first fun steps into the realm of improvised play. In this workshop kids will learn how to share a scene, work together and even some basic comedy principles. It will teach kids listening skills, improvisational skills and build self-confidence The perfect place to start for any fledgling comedian or clown.

COST:: $35 per child* (10 child minimum)


Three Little Tales
45-50 minutes total

Three Little Tales brings to life three of the most beloved children's stories. The audience will love seeing The Three Little Pigs, Goldie Locks and the Three Bears, and the Three Billy Goats Gruff enacted before their eyes in this laughter filled romp. Through humor and a very clever script, The Three Little Tales concentrates on how our choices affect other people and the consequences they have.

The Frog Prince
45-50 minutes total

Adapted from the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, The Frog Prince is the story of a young prince who has been turned into a frog by an evil witch. Add to the cast of characters a young princess who cannot speak, because she, too, lives under a witch's spell.  Set in two very different kingdoms separated by a great lake, this classic children's fairy tale is retold for today's young audiences!

COST: $400* (Back-to-Back Price: $550*)

The Tortoise and the Hare—The Race of the Century!
45-50 minutes total

The race is on! Watch as tv station WKID covers the race of the century. Well known long distance runner Robby "The Hare" Riggs has said that there is not a tortoise in the world who can beat him. Hard working and ever optimistic Willie Bean "The Tortoise" King decides to take him on. Kids will learn about the value of persistence and equality in this exciting new take on an old tale.
