The most brilliantly hued, massively glowing, and thunderously musical Halloween Parade in our storied history! The Great Halloween Lantern Parade brings back the BEST for this dynamic celebration—KALEIDOSCOPE! Our new lantern designs are more richly colored then ever. The Parade is musically vibrant with Baltimore’s most beloved marching band the Westsiders, a 30-piece all-woman Brazilian and Caribbean samba-reggae drum band Batalá, the Manly Deeds, Bateria Terra María, and 901 Arts Band. Over two dozen artists will parade with 15 newly commissioned monumental lanterns from stunning ornate Mexican piñata lanterns, an enormous snail by Access Art, Stiltwalkers, Venezuelan-inspired three-headed Januses, to enormous Kaleidoscope Kids puppets! And, of course, they all march with thousands of our neighbors who have created their own lanterns, many of them made in FREE public workshops.

The Parade has a new, dramatic route that starts at the Boat Lake and heads east to rise super-high on the east side annex of the Park, and back west into Pulaski Monument. A specially commissioned animated video by Joseph Faura and Carrie Rennolds with live music by Batalá closes out the Parade. Creative Alliance hosts the Glow Ball after party with an adult costume contest!

The day starts with the BEST family Halloween Festival featuring the adorable and hilarious SECDC Kids Costume Contest, lantern making, hayrides, Chalk O’ Lantern drawing, Halloween storytelling, face painting, costume making, and much more! Beloved hipster Dixieland swing ensemble Sac Au Lait offers fun dance tunes and songs from New Orleans and Louis Armstrong. The Gathering brings twenty food trucks and the Beer Garden is open!

“This parade is such a special event, because it brings the Baltimore community together through the celebration of art,” said Janet Smith, Creative Alliance board member and Chief Administrative Officer at OneMain Financial. “We’re excited to be supporting the event this year, and we hope families will join us for a full day of festivities.”

EVERYONE is welcome to dress in costume, bring a lantern, and march in the Parade.
