Babe Ruth: 100 Years
The exhibit commemorates the 100th anniversary of Ruth's entering the professional ranks of baseball by displaying never-before-seen Babe Ruth artifacts--including the official scorebook from his first professional game with the minor league Baltimore Orioles, his 1914 rookie card, the original marriage certificate from his October 17, 1914 wedding of Helen Woodford in Ellicott City, MD, one of his bats from the 1927 season when he hit a record 60 home runs, and his Catholic rosary that he carried with him until his death in 1948.
Curators Shawn Herne and Greg Schwalenberg will be on hand to offer behind-the-scenes insights on the development of the exhibit when it opens to the public on June 27.
WHERE: 216 Emory Street, Baltimore
ADMISSION: Admission is free for children 16 and under for the opening three days of the exhibition, June 27-29.
George Herman "Babe" Ruth is the most celebrated athlete in the history of American sports. During his 23-year Big League career he set 54 hitting and pitching records, and became the iconic symbol of America's 'Roaring Twenties' spirit. His enormous popularity led to the construction of Yankee Stadium, the "House that Ruth Built," while his extraordinary baseball talent helped propel the Yankees to become the most successful, recognized team in the world.
