Clowning Workshop

Clowning is a centuries-old art form, utilized in many fascinating ways over time. Join us as we explore the basics of clowning, what makes clowning so popular, and its use as a building block for comedy (and tragedy). From Commedia to modern film and stage, we'll learn what different forms of clowning have in common, and how you can use them in your work.

Creating a Solo Performance
Taught by Ensemble Member Paul Diem
WHEN: June 22nd- July 27th, Sunday Evenings,
6-9:30 PM
WHERE: Single Carrot Theatre, 2600 N. Howard St., Baltimore

One actor, one script, one audience: A Solo Performer can engage an audience directly and immediately to communicate a message or story. Participants in the 8-week Solo Performance class will investigate the history, craft, and practices of solo performers and solo performance. Through the study of leading artists in the form, performance exercises, and thorough self-exploration, participants will write, create, and perform their own solo show.

Summer High School Conservatory
WHEN: July 28th- August 8th, Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM- 4 PM
For incoming 8th graders through incoming 12th graders.
WHERE: Single Carrot Theatre, 2600 N. Howard St., Baltimore

A two-week intensive, insightful look at acting, design, and production, specially designed for high school students interested in performance. Taught and facilitated by Single Carrot Theatre’s award-winning ensemble.

BECOME A FELLOW AT SINGLE CARROT
Single Carrot Theatre is now accepting applications for the 2014/2015 Fellowship Program. 

SCT’s Fellowship Program is designed to provide hands-on experience and an opportunity to have a working understanding of Baltimore’s premier ensemble theatre. The Fellowship is a 12-month program that includes administrative and artistic responsibilities. Single Carrot is dedicated to the growth of artists, and the Fellowship has been created to introduce theatre artists to the exciting and demanding world of ensemble theatre. Fellows receive a $1,000 honorarium.
