Maryland native and Peabody Conservatory trumpet grad, Alex Norris performed with the Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Maria Schneider’s Band, and Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead. He has worked with many noted Jazz musicians. As a Jazz educator, Alex has taught at Towson University, City College of New York, and University of Miami Frost School of Music.
Currently, Alex performs all over the world with his own Jazz group, and with Ron Carter's Great Big Band, The Mingus Big Band, Kyle Eastwood, Miguel Zenon, Samuel Torres, and many other Jazz and Latin Jazz artists. He has recorded as a sideman on over 60 recordings and has a newly recorded CD soon to be released.
Alex hold a Master's Degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Miami. He has been a member of Jazz Studies Faculty of the Peabody Conservatory of Music since 2010.

Based in New York City, 2013 Grammy nominated artist, pianist and composer Manuel Valera was born and raised in Havana, Cuba. Since arriving in NYC, he has become well known in the NYC modern jazz scene, garnering national reviews and lending his talents as a pianist and composer to such notable artists as Arturo Sandoval, Paquito D’Rivera, Brian Lynch, Dafnis Prieto, Jeff “Tain” Watts, John Benitez, Samuel Torres, and Joel Frahm, Yosvany. He is also the leader of the New Cuban Express. His sixth record as a leader New Cuban Express was released in June 2012 and is nominated for 2013 Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album.
