SIGHT UNSEEN presents
A Night of Expanded Cinema
with Tim Geraghty & Sarah Halpern
WHEN: Saturday March 8, 9 PM Show
WHERE: The Red Room, 425 E. 31st Street, Baltimore
Behind the Glass, Above the Keys
Both filmmakers in this program have been trying to figure out how to make art and still get to work on time. As the current generation of young artists in New York, their struggle is no longer with crime and tough streets, its with working overtime to keep up with rising costs and still keep focus after hours. In the case of these two filmmakers, they have found some fluidity by having jobs that relate to their creative work. Tim Geraghty works as a TV editor and Sarah Halpern works as a projectionist. By day they employ their professional expertise while on the job. By night they take it home with them and flip it upside down. This program presents new works in 3D video, 16mm performance, 35mm film strips and multiple projection.
Tim Geraghty's work has shown at Anthology Film Archives, Issue Project Room, Microscope Gallery, Flaherty NYC Migrating Forms, Light Industry and International Film Festival Rotterdam among others. He is a member of Optipus Film Group.
Sarah Halpern's work has shown at venues including Anthology Film Archives, The Kitchen, Microscope Gallery, Museum of Moving Image and NYFF's Views from the Avant Garde. She is a frequent collaborator of Matt Wellins and is a member of Optipus Film Group.
