“Her stage name may sound as if it belongs on a jar of pasta sauce, but Mama Doni is an indisputably Jewish performer. Doni Zasloff in real life, she specializes in putting a Jewish spin on all kinds of musical styles, including reggae, rock, disco and Latin." — The New York Times

"Mama Doni makes a zany musical chicken soup of reggae, rock, disco, Latin, klezmer, and other styles." The Boston Globe

There has never been a mama quite like Mama Doni, who manages to score a perfect 10 in the world of family music with a joyful celebration of Jewish tradition, culture, and ruach (spirit).

Mama Doni promised plenty of surprises throughout her Chanukah performance, including giveaways of chocolate gelt and Mama Doni CDs, courtesy of Streit's Matzoh! Kids will boogie like a dreidel, air guitar with the band ("Latke Man" style), join in an applesauce vs. sour cream rock-along, and chime in on the eternal question of "Chanukah" or "Hanukah."

Hip young kids and their even hipper parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles are encouraged to get up and dance at this spirited Jewish rock concert. Chanukah will never be the same!

Doni Zasloff, a.k.a. Mama Doni, is the lead singer/songwriter of The Mama Doni Band, honored with two Parents' Choice Awards for their CDs Emunah and Shabbat Shaboom and winner of the Simcha Award for "Inspiring Joy Through Music" in competition with more than 100 bands from 15 different countries at the International Jewish Music Festival in Amsterdam. The band celebrates Jewish culture with irrepressible zest in its interactive family concerts filled with catchy pop songs that break the mold of traditional Jewish music. Quirky, offbeat, and unpredictable, The Mama Doni Band offers up a contagious and unexpected blend of contemporary American bluegrass, reggae, rock, disco, Latin, and klezmer, all woven together with a hip Jewish sensibility.

Watch for Mama Doni's new releases, Mama Doni's Jewish Holiday Party (DVD) and Mama Doni: The Acoustic Jewish Holiday Collection (CD), available beginning November 12 at,, itunes, FYE Stores, See of Sound, and directly through Mama Doni's website.
