Fall Classes Announced

We are excited to announce our 2013 Fall Classes. There are a variety of different offerings for various ages and levels. Classes do fill up quickly so make sure to register soon! NEW THIS YEAR—every student will receive a Pumpkin Theatre Community School of Drama T-shirt!

WHERE: ALL classes take place at Har Sinai Congregation, 2905 Walnut Ave, Owings Mills

Creative Drama 1, Grades Pre-K-1

Does your child love stories and playing make believe? In this class, your child will learn a variety of dramatic skills including creative movement, characterization, and voice. We will explore a children's story in the process. Parents will be invited to participate in the final class with their child.

  • 1A session - Saturdays, 9-10 AM, Oct 12-Dec 14 (no class Nov 9 or 30)
  • 1B session - Saturdays, 10:15 -11:15 AM, Oct 12-Dec 14 (no class Nov 9 or 30)

Creative Drama 2, Grades 2-4

This class builds on the skills learned in Creative Drama 1. Pantomime, improvisations, progressive story-telling, articulation, dramatic role play, and tableau are added to the basic creative drama skills for a fun session of exploration. Parents will be invited to participate in the final class with their child.

  • 2A session - Saturdays 9-10 AM, Oct 12-Dec 14 (no class Nov 9 or 30)
  • 2B session - Saturdays, 10:15-11:15 AM, Oct 12-Dec 14 (no class Nov 9 or 30)

Play Writing, Grades 5-8

Develop original works while learning what is involved in creating a play. There will be a staged reading during the last class. This class can support a student if they are interested in submitting work to CENTERSTAGE's Young Playwrights Festival.

Saturdays, 10-11 AM; Dec 7, 14, 21, Jan 4, 11 & 18 (Jan 18 class will be 10 AM-12 PM)

Tools for Beginning Acting, Grades 5-8

This eight-week workshop will introduce children to the basics and fundamentals of performing onstage for all genres of theater. special attention will be placed on physical movement exercises that will teach your child how to use the entire body and voice in performance and presentation. The last class will be open for family and friends to attend.

Tuesdays, 4:15-5:15 PM; Oct 1-Nov 19

Scene Study, Grades 5-8

Broaden your actor tool kit with creative character and scene development, bold physical and vocal acting choices, and monologue study. The class will culminate in a presentation of scenes and monologues for family and friends.
