A Pianist’s Guide to Improvisation Workshop

Pianist Robert Hitz leads a workshop geared to professional musicians and students interested in techniques of free improvisation and in teaching improvisation. Improvisation opens your personal creativity in a way that playing written music does not.

Open to beginners and accomplished players of any instrument. Bring your instrument, an open mind, and the possibilities are endless!

An exciting afternoon of music from the East and the West
The concert will feature winners from the 28th International Young Artist Piano Competition in Washington DC. The pianists, who range in age from seven to 27, are already playing with artistry and amazing ability.

You will hear masterworks from around the world, new premieres, "Olympic on the Run" and "Taking Shapes" by Li-Ly Chang, "Flower Drum Song" by  He Shao Yin, "Splashing! Splashing!" by  De Yue Ge, " A Love Song" by  Zhou Lu, and  "Combination of Long and Short" by Quan Jihao.
