A one-woman tour de force that turns Shakespeare on his head. A hilarious and meaningful exploration of love and life, artifice and theatrics, through the eyes of modernized Shakespearean characters. Closely related to Shakespeare’s As You Like It, like Rosalind, Maija dons a variety of “masks” in her effort to trick the man of her dreams into falling in love with her. Five separate characters, each trapped in their own play, take the stage, and through comedy, tragedy, and music dramatize the different aspects of Maija’s epiphanous journey. It is only after becoming emotionally spent, that Maija finds the strength to dismiss the roles and expose her true intention in writing the play.
