As you know we've been celebrating our 50th Anniversary, and January is the month that marks the official founding of this theater 50 years ago.
I first came to CENTERSTAGE in 2004 when the theater produced my play Elmina's Kitchen. For years I considered CENTERSTAGE my second artistic home, but never imagined that I would have the honor of leading this great theater. As we stand at the edge of the next 50 years, I feel privileged to do so with an audience I know to be one of the best there is—an audience ready to explore the highs and lows of the world, and an audience ready to join the conversation.
Thank you. You're the reason we've been here for 50 years and the reason we'll be here for the next 50. I look forward to seeing you at The Mountaintop.
Kwame Kwei-Armah OBE, Artistic Director
