20120324-120603Souvenir is a touching, wickedly funny tribute to Florence Foster Jenkins, a New York socialite and tone-deaf diva, who thinks she is a great soprano. Her sincerity, ambition, deep love of music and lack of talent brings a unique joy to thousands; her rise to cult status culminates in an infamous sell-out Carnegie Hall performance in October 1944.

Chronicled by her brilliant, wry accompanist, Cosme McMoon, this play with music centers on their unlikely friendship; he becomes her champion and protector.

Above right: "What was she hearing?" Florence Foster Jenkins (Sherrionne Brown) demonstrates her unique vocalization for accompanist Cosme McMoon (Scott D. Farquhar).
