Ashcan Orchestra is the chamber group of composer and tinkerer Pat Spadine. Last time I saw Ashcan they were playing Spadine's dense polyrhythmic pieces for multiple hand bells and percussion, but Pat has been known to play with musical toys, tapes, feedback, and turntabl es and has developed a beautiful video feedback set-up using mirrors, colored lights and a mountain of old televisions. Bassist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and noise maker Justin Frye is best known for his band PC Worship, the Brooklyn based blown-out, form bending rock band. Tonight he returns to the Red Room performing a set of solo material of unknown style (http://pcworship.blogspot.com/).
Local electronic musician Andrew Burt will open the show and Meg Rorison will show her 16mm film Alice.
