GREEN VIOLINIST: CHELSEY GREEN

Violinist Chelsey Green and her band, The Green Project, share their “environmental sound.” A graduate of The Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, and current doctoral student at the University of Maryland and Strathmore Artist-in-Residence, Chelsey Green combines classical music ideas with popular and original songs in various genres. The Green Violinst is a personal patent that certifies her performing as a true representative of who she is and of her life’s passion. “Green” also reveals her desire to protect the environment, specifically to save the forests of the endangered pernambuco trees in Brazil.

Under the direction of David Duree, adjunct lecturer in music, Jenny Steiner on clarinet and Rachel Andrews on piano perform pieces by composers from Germany, France, and the United States.

This concert showcases several McDaniel College music department faculty members with Ted Dix on organ, Lynne Griffith on French horn, Mark Lortz on percussion, Nick Reider and Rachel Zephir on trumpet, James Ryon on trombone, and Elijah Wirth on tuba. Musical selections include Mozart’s “Sonata in D for Two Pianos,” Johannes Brahms’ “Variations on a Theme by Haydn,” and compositions by Maurice Ravel.

McDaniel String Ensemble under the direction of Nicholas Currie, adjunct lecturer in music, also performs.
