WELCOME to the BALTIMORE URBAN CONTEMPORARY DANCE FESTIVAL hosted by the Coppin State University Dance Program and co-sponsored by Dance Baltimore. Master classes will be taught all weekend by exciting guest instructors.

Coppin - LorenzoFeatured instructors include Tweetie (Hip Hop), host of MTV's "Dances From Tha Hood" and  choreographer to numerous artists such as Jay-Z, Ciara, LL Cool J, Fergie, and Nelly; Emily Berry (Afro-Cuban Dance) from NYC's B3W dance company; Afro-Cuban dancer Wanjiru Kamuyu (Contemporary Dance), current dance captain and performer with the Broadway hit FELA! Kamayu has danced internationally with The Lion King and Urban Bush Women. Also on hand, Lizzy Washington (Contemporary Dance) current dancer with Alvin Ailey Dance Company II; Lorenzo Evans (pictured, Hip-Hop, Step) a choreographer who has worked with major artists such as Chuck Brown, Jill Scott and Fantasia Barrino; Ronnie Goode (Line Dance), a line dancer for 14 years, performing at countless festivals and performance experience on stage with Fantasia. 

The weekend will also feature the Urban Movers Dance Showcase on Saturday, October 1, 7:30 PM, and will honor local dance legends Dr. Edna Simmons (Coppin State University) and Dr. Iantha Tucker (Morgan State University).
