M.I.C.A. GROUP EXHIBITS FEATURE STUDENT & FACULTY WORK

As fall gets underway, MICA galleries will host group exhibitions of select student and faculty work. See below for a listing of group exhibitions that open between late August and October.

Foundation Exhibition

Timed to coincide with the arrival of this year’s freshmen, the Foundation Exhibition is one of the College’s most highly regarded student shows. The exhibition, which opens in galleries across campus, features work by rising sophomores made during the 2010-11 academic year.

MICA’s groundbreaking foundation program introduces all students to the fundamentals of visual arts, giving them a cornerstone upon which they can build their artistic careers.

The faculty exhibition features the work of MICA’s world-renowned full-time faculty, highlighting their diversity in content, medium and style.

Juried Undergraduate Exhibition

Photo by Joe RubinoThe work in this annual exhibition is a selection of the best submissions from all four years of undergraduate students. From hundreds of entries, approximately 100 will be chosen as winners in a variety of disciplines based on artistic merit, creativity and vision.

18Doreen Bolger, director of The Baltimore Museum of Art since 1998 (above), will serve as one of the jurors this year. Also on this year’s jury will be Philippa P.B. Hughes, creator of the Pink Line Project (left), which is designed to inspire and enhance connectivity for the culturally conscious.

HOURS for MICA's galleries, which are free and open to the public, are Mondays–Saturdays, 10 AM-5 PM, and Sundays, noon–5 PM. They are closed on major holidays.
