It is a band whose unique style freely crosses genre boundaries and one that succeeds in presenting an honest musical vision, due in large part to their firm roots in improvisational performance.

MICROSCOPIC SEPTET

One of NYC's most legendary, and America's most beloved jazz groups, THE MICROSCOPIC SEPTET, will be making its first-ever concert appearance in Baltimore. This will be their only appearance in the Baltimore/Washington area!

The music of The Microscopic Septet is the sound of jazz in 21st century America:  All of it, from Ellington to Ayler, bebop to Zorn, Dixieland to experimental, captured in a microcosm.  It distilled the essence of jazz as a popular music into a sound that swung, a music that was intelligent, sometimes smart-aleck and always good fun.

WHEN: Sunday, August 28, 5 & 7 PM

:  $15/$10 students
