RWO KICKS INTO HIGH GEAR FOR 2011

Call for Proposals
RWO is excited to announce a Call for Proposals for new opera from composers, writers, anyone who would be interested in working with RWO.  There is no deadline for this submission and review process, as this is not a competition.  We will be continually reviewing proposals as we program future seasons.  If you have an idea for a new opera,
please let them know!

Criminal Intent
For their annual East Coast tour, RWO will team up with the West End String Quartet to present a program entitled CRIMINAL INTENT

  • George Lam and Martin Zimmerman's short opera Someone Anyone (2008) explores the complicated relationship between a prostitute and her client's offer for a "better" life. 
  • Ryan Jesperson's Orphée Redux is a re-imagining of the Orpheus myth in 1980s New York City. 
  • The program concludes with a world première by David Smooke titled Criminal Element, a journey through the mind of the French rogue trader Jérome Kerviel, who nearly brought down the entire European financial system in 2008.

The tour will bring RWO and WESQ to venues in New York City, Baltimore, Hartford and BostonStay tuned for more details!
