Children’s Chorus of Carroll County Spring Celebration: Come Together

Concert will feature several alumni of the chorus and current members, as well as the Old Line Barbershop Chorus. The Children's Chorus of Carroll County exists to provide an accessible, quality choral experience for children in central Maryland. It is dedicated to serving the community and helping children develop attitudes that will perpetuate a lifetime of joyful singing. Under the direction of Diane Jones, the chorus will perform a wide variety of music.

Chamber Music on the Hill presents Trio of Trios: The Westminster Trio and Friends

TICKETS: $15 adults; $10 seniors and veterans; children, students with ID admitted free.
The Westminster Trio includes Melissa Zaraya, Esther Mellon, both members of the Baltimore Symphony, and David Kreider, a member of the McDaniel College music faculty. For this concert they will be joined by Lynne Griffith and David Duree, both also members of the McDaniel College music faculty. The program will include Johannes Brahms’ Trio in Eb Op. 40 for Violin, Piano, and French horn; Beethoven’s Trio in Bb, Op. 11, for Clarinet, Piano, and Cello; and Frank Martin’s Trio on Popular Irish Melodies.    

Gala Inauguration Concert

“Changing Lives for a Changing World!” is the theme for this concert, which will include performances by McDaniel choirs, musical ensembles and faculty musicians. It is also the theme for the week ahead leading up to the inauguration of our new President, Dr. Roger Casey. Music is a great medium for initiating and celebrating change. This concert celebrates a future filled with new adventures, while recognizing the rich and diverse heritage from which those pathways are already emerging.

Student Guitar Ensembles

Featuring the McDaniel College Jazz Guitar Ensemble, under the direction of Tim Jenkins, the ensemble consists of students Kevin Alexander, Charlie Eron, Patrick Gosey, Jon Gore-Langton, Michael Monaco , Dan Parsons, and Max Phelps. The program is scheduled to include “My Romance” (Rodgers and Hart), “So What”/“Impressions” (Miles Davis/John Coltrane), “Central Park West” (John Coltrane) and “Pneumonia” (an original composition by student Michael Monaco). The evening will feature solo and duet guitar performances.

Student Clarinet Ensemble

WHERE: Levine Recital Hall
Under the direction of David Duree, the program will feature several pieces for all the voices: sopranini, soprano, alto, bass and contra-bass clarinets. Students involved include Oliver Avaritt, Courtney Donovan, Nicole Helie, Sarah Huffer, Lauren Rosso, Jenny Steiner, Shannon Williams and Allison Wyper.

Groups performing include the Flute Choir, Flute Quartet and Woodwind Ensemble under the direction of Linda Kirkpatrick. Guest Jon Seligman will be featured on the Bodhran (Irish Drum). Flute Choir: Mixing the Malt (Irish piece with Jon Seligman); Flute Quartet: featuring two pieces by women composers Catherine McMichael (Les Lunes et Les Toiles) and Cynthia Folio (Four ‘Scapes); Woodwind Quartet: music by Bartok, Fauré and Handel (from his “Water Music”); Flute Choir: Bethany Adamo, Kirsten Bickford , Kelley Campbell, Linda Caviglia, Megan Franey, Cara Goodman, Kristin Greene, Linda Herrmann, Veronica Lathroum, Monika Lemke, Bobbi Little, Brittany Maffei, Victoria Mansfield, Beth Ream, Emily Reed, Emily Schaefer, Rachel Sidney and Jen Staub. Flute Quartet: Kirsten Bickford, Megan Franey, Emily Reed and Emily Schaefer; Woodwind Quartet: Kirsten Bickford, flute; Adam Herbstsomer, horn; Paul Fauconnet, oboe; and Olivia Brundage, bass clarinet. Will feature the premiere of Linda Kirkpatrick’s arrangement of Joseph Bodin de Boismortier's Concerto in G Major.

College Choir Concert: Impossible Distances

More than 65 students will perform under the direction of Margaret Boudreaux and accompanied by David Kreider on piano and organ. Justine Koontz ‘09 composed the title piece and Jen Newgent ‘07 will be playing the organ for this work. The concert will allow the college to showcase its recently rebuilt Aeolian Skinner organ. The program includes: “With a Voice of Singing,” composed by Martin Shaw and conducted by Charlie Im (‘12). This work also features the organ; “Impossible Distances,” Justine Koontz (w. Jen Newgent on organ); “Daniel, Daniel Servant of the Lord,” Undine Moore, an inspiring spiritual that will be conducted by Paul Fauconnet (‘12) with soloists Hilary Deweese (‘14) and Travis Green (a student at Carroll Community College); “The Lord Bless You and Keep You,” Peter Lutkin. This traditional closer will include the audience and as many choir alumni who want to come up to sing with us.
